UNDATED -- Significant snow accumulation is expected across much of the region.

Strong northwest winds will arrive late Tuesday night and Wednesday which will bring areas of blowing snow.

A winter storm watch is in effect Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning across much of the region.

Heavy snow and blowing snow are the primary hazards.  Minnesota Department of Transportation spokesman Jake Loesch says the agency has more than 800 snowplows ready to go and plenty of salt to make state roads safer.

Consider altering your travel plans, if possible.

Meteorologists say another winter storm could develop after Thanksgiving into the weekend. But they say it's too soon to tell whether that system will bring rain, snow or a mix.
