Minnesota Red Cross Offering Free Diabetes Screening This Month
Growing up most of us heard that education was the key to our future. And to be honest, when it comes to our health, that statement rings true as well. Finding out early that there is something going on in our bodies usually gives the doctors plenty of time to develop a plan that will put us on top of whatever we’re treating.
Knowledge Is Key!
Did you know that there are over 38 million Americans are living with Diabetes? That’s a staggering number, and the American Red Cross says that 90% of those patients have Type Two Diabetes and early detection is very important in the treatment plan.

The reason early detection is key with Type Two is because most people didn’t know they had it until damage to their organs was already done. That means that right now, close to nine million people could have diabetes or pre-diabetes and not know it.
The American Red Cross is offering a free A1C testing on successful blood donations through the end of August. Taking the Red Cross up on their offer is an opportunity to accomplish two goals at one time.
First, you’re helping those who need blood by giving yours, and secondly, you are getting tested and possibly getting some information that could help save your life as well. You do not need to fast before your donation, but the donation will need to be completed before the test can be run.
The results will be available in one to two weeks.
And if you donate blood before August 28th, the American Red Cross will give you a $15 gift card. Learn more here.
