Getting Outdoors in Minnesota Could Land You Free Camping
If you are one of the many Minnesotans who loves to get outside, you’ll likely love this. And it comes with the chance to earn a free night or two of camping.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has announced two new clubs for outdoor enthusiasts to join. There’s a hiking club and then one they’re calling a passport club.
You can join one or both clubs if you like. You buy the books for 14.95 at any state park, or you can buy the books online as well.
With the Passport Club, anytime you visit one of the state parks or recreation areas around Minnesota, put a stamp in your book. You will earn a free night of camping once you have 25 stamps in your book. If you visit all the state parks and recreation areas, you’ll get another free night of camping.
For those who are interested in the Hiking Club, there are 67 designated trails at state parks and recreation areas in Minnesota which will allow you to get a patch for your book. Patches are earned after you complete 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, and 175 miles and then one final patch once you finish the final miles on the trails.
You will get a certificate for a free night of camping once you’ve hit the 100-mile mark and then get another when you’ve completed all the miles.
