Our Day At The Minnesota State Fair {Photos}
On Saturday, Jay and I made our annual trek to the Great Minnesota Get-Together. And it seems as though everyone else in Minnesota was there too!
We arrived around 9:30 for breakfast. Jay likes traditional food so we headed to the Hamline Dining Hall so he could have eggs and pancakes. On the way, I stopped for the grilled peaches with goat cheese. Delicious!
We took a ride on the Sky Glider. (Photo at the top) It's something we do every year. And then we headed to Ye Old Mill before the lines got too long. We'd never been on this one, so it was fun to do something new. I had no idea that it's completely dark when you're riding through!
It was time to catch up with some friends for a beer! Jerrod and Alexis are originally from the east coast, but living in Madison. This was their first time at the fair and they were already loving it. When we walked back outside, the crowds were crazy! It was wall-to-wall people.
The lines were long, it was almost impossible to get anywhere, but we weren't leaving without the most important purchase of the day.
If you're planning to go to the Minnesota State Fair, I suggest going during the week, get there early, wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared for big crowds and long lines by about 2pm every day. But it's worth it. There's really nothing that compares to the Great Minnesota Get-Together. We'll see you again next year!
The fair runs through Labor Day. All the info you need is here.
