After holding the top spot since the voting started, Pat Benatar no longer holds the #1 position in the fan vote in Rock 'N Roll Hall Of Fame. It now belongs to the Dave Matthews Band. It's shocking...and it makes me smile.

I know, a lot of people might be upset to hear that. Some people might be really happy, like me. We DMB fans think they are one of the most talented bands out there and definitely one of the best LIVE bands ever. Once you see a DMB show live, you usually walk away a fan.

Now don't get me wrong. Pat Benatar should be in the Hall of Fame. So should the Doobie Brothers. I'm also down with Soundgarden and Judas Priest being in there. But I also have no issues with Dave Matthews Band being there.

Dave Matthews Band is one of the most successful touring bands of all time. And they've done it with very little radio airplay and a handful of radio "hits" and most of those were at the beginning of their career. They tour often, they tour hard and they sell our arena's and stadiums every year. They always look like they're having fun performing and really into it.

According to Pollstar, they were the #1 touring band in North America from 2000 to 2009. Some of the other top artists from that decade were Celine Dion, Kenny Chesney, Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones, U2, Madonna, Eagles and Elton John. That's pretty impressive company.

The point is, don't be surprised if the Dave Matthews Band gets into the Hall of Fame this year, next year or anytime in the next few years. They're a extremely talented band and they have a massive and loyal following.

Here's some great live videos of original songs and the rare cover song they do. And when the do a cover song, it's a song that seems that match the style of band they are.
