As someone who has spent their entire life moving back and forth between the blistering hot mountains of Kentucky, and the frigid, ruthless glaciers of Minnesota, I know from first-hand experience that there are some major cultural differences. Kentuckians like basket ball and deep-fried everything, and Minnesotans like hockey and hot-dish. Each of them have their own traditions and cultural trademarks.

 

 

There’s one strange tradition that I’d like to share with you that I grew up with in the south. It’s the easiest prepared dessert ever made. I’m talking about snow cream. Yeah, I know, it even sounds weird. My grandma used to make this seasonal treat for me when I was a kid, and despite its oddness, I always loved it. This is how to make it:

 

 

  • 2 cups of snow
  • 3 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • A dash of vanilla extract

 

 

Dump all of the ingredients into a bowl. Mix them all together, and tah-dah, you’ve got yourself some snow cream. Talk about eating on a budget.
