Another Recall Of A Popular Children’s Rideable Toy
There is an old saying that says “when it rains, it pours”. Most of the time that means that when bad things happen, or things that are costly or uncomfortable, they seem to come in bunches.
Some days you feel like every time you go around a corner, there’s another something waiting on you there. That is maybe how the folks at Huffy are feeling right now.
Last week, I wrote about a recalled Tonka Dump Truck that kids could ride that had been recalled due to a problem with the control overheating and it could potentially burn your child.
Now, Huffy is having to recall another rideable vehicle for children. This time it is one that was sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores and on their website.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission says that the Torex Ride-On Toys are being recalled for a similar issue that the Tonka Truck had.
The problem with the Torex isn’t exactly the same as the Tonka Truck, this issue is arising because there’s a problem with the wiring of the Torex vehicle and it can get hot and overheat which of course can start a fire.
The vehicle in question is a 24-volt ride-on children’s UTV that is 53 inches long, 43 inches wide and 27 inches tall. The word Torex is found on the front and the side of the vehicle.
The model numbers for the recalled products are 17249 and 17310 and were sold between June 2019 and December 2024. Reports estimate that over 24,000 of these vehicles were sold.
There have been 20 reports of these vehicles overheating resulting in the vehicle smoking or catching on fire. There were also 5 injuries reported that consisted of minor burns.
If you have one of these vehicles for your child, you should contact Huffy for details on have to get a free repair.
