Do You Own One Of These Recalled Lawn Mowers

We’re nowhere close to lawn mowing season. This week with temperatures below zero again, we’re more worried about hypothermia than getting our mowers ready for the spring.

One popular manufacturer of mowers has been thinking about the upcoming mowing season already and they’ve announced a recall. 

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that Ryobi Tools USA has issued a recall on the Ryobi 40V Brushless 21” Cordless Walk Behind Self-Propelled Multi Blade Push Mower because of a potential fire risk. 

The mowers in question were made between February of 2021 and January of this year. The mowers have a black cutting deck, with a gray housing on top and a black bag that says Ryobi on it.  

The impacted model numbers are as follows: 

RY401015BTLUS, RY401015US, RY401150US-Y, RY401020 and RY401200 

The serial numbers that are involved in the recall are KC2103D010001 and KC21327N999999.  

The company says that there have been over 95 reports of these mowers overheating and in five of those cases, there have been fires. Two users of the mowers suffered minor burns.  

The popularity of these mowers comes from the fact that they were widely sold at Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlet Stores and through the websites for both of those stores.
