One of the most popular items sold over the last few years has been any type of travel mug made by Stanley. My granddaughter is a senior in high school and has so many of those darn things.

And of course, as with anything else, when there’s a hot product, there are a ton of the look-a-like bottles made by other companies. To this point, if you had stock in Stanley Cups, you’ve probably done pretty good for yourself with it.

But Stanley has hit a bit of a snafu recently that has caused them to recall over 2 million travel mugs. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says that the Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs have an issue that could result in an injury.

The mug's lid threads shrink when exposed to heat and torque which could cause the lid to detach in use and the person drinking from it could get burned.

These are double-walled travel mugs that were sold in a whole host of colors including pink, white, black and green. The cups were also sold in 12oz, 16oz and 20oz sizes.

If you have one of these travel mugs, you are urged to stop using it immediately and contact Stanley. They will send you a free replacement lid, and they will cover the cost of shipping.

The cups in question were sold between June of 2016 and December of this year.
