Discover Minnesota’s History On Special Capitol Tours
If you enjoy history, the State of Minnesota is giving you a unique opportunity to get close to some of the state's history up close and personal with a tour of the State Capitol building. There are three special tours coming up, one next month in September, one in October, and the last one comes up in November.
September Tours
On Friday September 12th and Saturday September 13th, you can be a part of one of three tours each day with the Quadriga Starlight Tours. These tours take place at night, which will give you the perspective of seeing the view through the Quadriga under the night sky.
This tour will take about an hour and a half to complete, with three tours starting at staggered times. The first one is from 7:00pm until 8:30pm, the second tour runs from 7:30pm until 9:00, with the final tour going from 8:00pm until 9:30pm.
Tickets are $16 for adults, $12 for senior citizens 65 and up, and $10 for kids ages 5-17.

This tour promises to give you a guided tour of the state capital building and to introduce you to interesting characters from Minnesota’s history.
October Tours
Then in October, you will have the chance to see the Capitol building like you most likely have never seen it before, and that would be lit up with the original lighting from the 1900’s. This tour lasts an hour and there will be four tours per night on the following dates:
- Thursday October 16th
- Friday October 17th
- Saturday October 18th
- Thursday October 23rd
- Friday October 24th
- Saturday October 25th
The description for this tour is one that says that you will stroll through the shadowy rotunda, hallways and chambers with a guide who will share historical tales. Tickets for this tour are $16 for adults, $14 for senior citizens 65 and up and kids 5-17 $12. Some of these spots are already close to selling out, so you may want to go ahead and reserve your tickets soon.
November Tours
The tour in November is a one-day opportunity to learn more about the role that Minnesota played in the Civil War. On display during this tour will be battle flags, memorials and art from this time period.
Take advantage of this opportunity to get inside the Capitol Building and learn some important lessons from our states past. Find more details here.
