Before I moved to Minnesota in September of 2023, I knew that hockey was big here, I knew people loved their football and ice fishing, but to be honest I never really gave much thought to golf being a popular sport here.

Well, as we all know now, it is. I recently came across a story that was posted by Galvin Green, the high-tech golf appeal brand, that broke down which states in America had the most online searches about golf.

Knowing what I know about golf in Minnesota, I’m not surprised at all to learn that Minnesota ranks 13th in most golf related searches on Google.

The article says that Galvin Green analyzed 28 search terms which included golf lessons and golf instructors.

The final scorecard read that Minnesota had 58.34 people searching for golf lessons near me per 100,000 people per month. That could be that more people are realizing how fun yet frustrating the game can be.

Now you might think that the warmer weather states would have the most searches about golf lessons, but that’s not the case at all. The state that had the most searches per 100,000 people per month was Massachusetts, with 89. Followed by Utah with 72, Illinois with 72, Michigan with 71 and New Hampshire with 70 to round out the top 5.

The rest of the top 10 look like this, in this order; Rhode Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, Wisconsin, and Maryland.

Maryland probably has the mildest climate of the top 10 overall, but it still gets cold, and winter can be brutal there too.

So, now that we’re into the negative temperature ranges, maybe doing a search for golf lessons at one of the indoor places around Minnesota wouldn’t be a bad idea so you're ready when the warmer weather gets here.
