Oh my goodness, it is so hard to believe that  there are children right here in our community, the only meal they eat in the day is their school lunch. There are times we want to make a positive impact in the world we live in but don’t know where to begin. Being a mom of two young children I can’t even imagine struggling to the point my children would go hungry. Let me tell you how you can make a difference.
There is an amazing program called "Feeding Area Children Together", also known as FACT, their mission is reducing childhood hunger in central Minnesota, right here in our community, through our weekend backpack program, FACT Packs, crisis food shelf, FACT Pantry, and bi-annual, FACT Break Box initiatives.

FACT helps over 180 students each week. That’s awesome, but they also have 100 students on the waiting list. Each FACT Pack contains a child-friendly, non-perishable breakfast, lunch and snack for every day school is not in session. The menu is approved by a local pediatrician, and contain a variety of fruits, vegetables and proteins. Bags are packed by volunteers and delivered to schools. Each FACT Pack is placed in  student backpacks by volunteers on Fridays or the last day of school before break.

Right now, they are in need of more donations. Their pantries are getting bare. The things they are requesting are:

  • cereal
  • pasta sauce
  • canned soups and stews
  • canned vegetables and fruit
  • canned chicken or tuna
  • boxed rice
  • pasta

They will even be willing to pick up your donations. Or you can donate money and they will happily shop for you.

You can also donate

  • shampoo
  • laundry detergent
  • soap
  • toothpaste
  • toothbrushes,
  • and other personal hygiene products
