There’s an old commercial series for Dunkin’ Donuts where the “star” of the commercial was a man who worked for Dunkin’, who would wake up in the middle of the night to go make the donuts so they would be ready when everyone else woke up.

The repeated line in those spots was “time to make the donuts”. That phrase for many Americans became a slogan for going to a job that you don’t like.

I did a google search of “what percentage of Americans doesn’t like their jobs” and the answer was 50%. Honestly, that number seems kind or low, but during the pandemic, some folks found a way to leave the workforce and still make a living, so that could be why.

If you are one of the folks who is just “going to make the donuts” every day, and you are looking for job that brings you challenges and possibility for advancement, the state of Minnesota could be looking for you.

The Minnesota State Patrol is hiring.

Before you say that you aren’t qualified, let me tell you this first. You will get paid to go through training.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety offers LETO, or Law Enforcement Training Opportunity.

The Department of Public Safety says that candidates in the program make at least 80% of the starting annual salary of $79,469 while in training. I thought that might get your attention.

If you have no law enforcement training, that’s ok. The LETO program is for those who have a two-year or four-year degree and have the desire to become a state trooper.

The training takes place at Hennepin or Century Technical College. There is no room and board, so you may have to travel a bit. But you will be a Minnesota state employee on Day 1.

The Minnesota State Patrol asks that all candidates sign a two-year contract with the agency, which starts on your first day.

Students in the program will need to purchase pens, paper, and notebooks. You know all the things we all used in school.

There is physical training that must be passed, get more details on that here.

You will not have a degree after the 23-week course, the LETO training is a certificate program.

All the details can be found on this opportunity right here.

If you’re tired of feeling like you’re just making the donuts, could this be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for?
