Martin Marietta Granite Quarry Tour Happening June 13th
I am sure you've seen the giant rock piles and conveyors of the Martin Marietta granite quarry in Waite Park as you drive by. It is the one across County 75 from the Marcus Parkwood movie theater. It is pretty rare that people get the opportunity to see it with their own eyes, but June 13th you can do just that! They are hosting an open house this year on June 13th from noon to 5 pm and it is totally open to the public! Admission is just $1.00 and the proceeds are going back to the City of Waite Park to help pay for expenses associated with the Waite Park Family Fun Days. There will be buses to transport people from the ball fields at 1300 Great Oak Drive, Waite Park, where there is free parking. The buses will be running continuously to transport you to and from where you need to be.
The tour will last about 45 minutes, where you will be allowed to visit the observation deck, museum, and enjoy snacks and beverages provided by Martin Marietta at no charge! This is a pretty rare opportunity to see the quarry and the money goes to a great cause! Any questions can be directed at Dan Bokinskie, dan.bokinskie@martinmarietta.com.
