Beware Of Medicare Scams Targeting Unsuspecting Beneficiaries
It seems like every time we turn around; we’re being warned about another attempt by someone else trying to scam us or someone we know out of money or benefits that we’ve earned.
Honestly, it gets old after a while that this is the constant world we’re living in. So, with that said, I guess it shouldn’t surprise me that yet again, we’re being warned about this type of thing.

Yesterday, AARP issued an alert about a scam where fraudsters are going after people with Medicare. The grift goes like this, Medicare patients get a call from someone claiming to be from the Medicare office and that there’s a problem with the patients' account.
The problem can range from that the patient needs a new card or that their birthday does not match what is on their account, and there is a risk of the Medicare benefits going away. Obviously when this happens, the patient will try to explain how there must be some mistake, and they try to help the caller figure out the issue.
The longer the call goes on, the more likely important information can be given out that should not be. AARP and their Fraud Alert Department says to hang up immediately if you get a call like this.
They also advise you to call them to report the call so they can begin to offer help. This service is for members of AARP, so if you’re not a member, you should contact your local law enforcement office.Even if you’re not a Medicare member, spread the word so hopefully this scam loses its effectiveness sooner rather than later.
