Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, or better yet, you are experiencing it right now. I woke up Sunday morning feeling kind of bad. Sluggish but not really achy. I felt like there was something in my lungs, and all day I battled the bells and whistles going off in my head that it could be pneumonia, again.

I had it over 20 years ago, and it was brutal. As the day went along, I felt ok, but not great. Same kind of deal for Monday and Tuesday as well. I just felt sluggish, barely a little cough, but congestion in my chest.

I went to the Doctor Tuesday morning and luckily my doctor said everything looked fine, its most likely a combination of my allergies and a viral type of deal going on in my body.

I was relieved until he told me that there were no other meds he could give me, but to keep taking the stuff I had been taking over the counter and it would eventually go away.

There’s just no timeline for that to happen, especially if it’s viral. Your body is the best weapon to fight off the most common viral disturbances, and over the counter medicines can help your body stay strong enough to do just that. It just takes a little time, apparently.

What Is Most Likely The Cause Of Our Discomfort?

In talking to folks I know, there’s at least 2 or 3 others going through a similar thing right now. So, why is that?

It turns out that right now in the St. Cloud area, Grass Pollen is very high and wreaking havoc on people's allergies. Tree Pollen is also a culprit that is causing people to feel not quite like themselves too.

Another factor is the fact that the wind blows here all the time and that moves a lot of things around in the air and that keeps us at a disadvantage as well.

Keeping Yourself Strong Enough To Win The Battle

Over the counter treatments are an easy first step, but if you’re lucky enough like me to where you need a prescription from your doctor to help battle the allergy war, there’s that option as well.

If you are feeling bad right now, the good news is that a report from the CDC late last week says that Covid-19, RSV, Seasonal Influenza, and Acute Respiratory Illnesses are all at low levels right now.

That’s great, but it doesn’t mean that the constant clearing of my throat I’m having to do because of these allergies won’t be letting loose their grip on me go anytime soon.
