St. Cloud’s Free Thrift Store To Host Christmas Event
There are some people you meet that you can tell have a heart for their community. Those who are wanting to be able to make a difference in some special way.
People who recognize a need and try their best to fill it. Two of those people are Amanda and Jenna from Westyn’s Garage. They run what they like to call St. Cloud’s Free Thrift Store.
In case you aren’t familiar, Westyn’s Garage is named for Amanda’s son, and their concept is twofold. First, it was to create a place where parents and grandparents could donate clothes that their kids no longer could wear.
But the second part of that two-fold approach was to give those who needed a helping hand a free place to get the clothing they needed. This quickly turned from only focusing on kid's clothes into adding adults clothing and household supplies too.
As Amanda told me back in August, “if someone needs a blouse or shirt or pants for a job interview that could put them in a better situation, we want to be able to give those clothes to them.”
Then 501c3 Non-Profit is running the donation center out of a storage building right now while they save up for a brick and motor structure.
To say the response to this approach has been strong is an understatement, but they’re not there yet. Amanda and Jenna are still raising funds for what they need.
That’s where you come in. Westyn’s Garage will be holding their Christmas Fundraiser on Sunday December 1st in Downtown St. Cloud from 11am to 2pm. There will be several things going on that day.
Lunch will be available for $5 per person. 2 and under eat free. (Again, they’re giving back). A lot of the items they will have on display will be for the winter months; they say all sizes will be available.
There will be a silent auction that ends at 2 and there will be multiple payment options available.
Plus, for the kids that come along, there will be games, face painting and pictures with Ol’ St. Nick. There will also be arts and crafts on hand as well.
All the proceeds to directly to support Westyn’s Garage.
Put this on your calendar so you don’t forget or get something else scheduled. Sunday, December 1st from 11-2 at 601 West Saint Germain St. In St. Cloud, that’s the Seal Dwyer Counseling Building. There will be parking on the street or in the nearby parking ramps.
