Shine A Light On Mental Health In Minnesota This Month
October is Mental Health Awareness Month; it’s a month to bring attention to issues that people struggle with on a regular basis and the fact that reaching out for help is ok. You may see people wearing yellow this month to support those who struggle and to encourage seeking professional help without recourse.

This seems like a good opportunity to remind you about Mental Health Minnesota. They are an affiliate of Mental Health America, and they have the mission of increasing mental health treatment and services for all who need it in Minnesota.
Another aspect of what Mental Health Minnesota does is to advance the opportunity for mental health treatment for all the states' residents.
This organization has been around since 1939 and was the state’s first mental health organization for advocacy and education. Mental Health Minnesota is a non-profit and non-partisan organization with the focus on doing what’s best for the patients.
The organization offers several different types for assistance such as:
- Online Screenings- those who feel they need help can take a screening to get connected to the right areas of support.
- The Minnesota Warmline- Offers people who aren’t experiencing a mental health emergency but need someone to talk to. Having a voice on the other end of the line could keep someone from getting to the point of having an emergency situation.
- We Can Talk- Is a confidential peer helpline for 18–25-year-olds who need someone to talk to.
- The 988 Suicide and Crisis Line - available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if a situation has reached the level where suicide, is a consideration. This is a confidential source that responds to calls and texts.
These are just a few of the services offered for Minnesota residents. The important thing to realize is if you feel like life is getting too much, and you need someone to help; Minnesota Mental Health is there.
