ST. CLOUD — There is plenty of holiday fun going on throughout central Minnesota this weekend. You can take the family to Holdingford for a good old fashion Christmas, watch the Nutcracker Ballet at the Paramount Theatre, enjoy the Winter Nights and Lights Parade, swing the rhythm of a Big Band experience with Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, and enjoy some traditional Christmas songs played by Tubas at Pioneer Place.     Christmas in Holdingford


    Enjoy an Old Fashioned Christmas in Holdingford this weekend. Area businesses and the community are celebrating the Christmas season with a Santa meet and greet at the Holdingford American Legion, horse drawn sleigh rides, tree lighting and caroling and a live Nativity in front of city hall.  The fun runs from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday night. It is free to attend.

    The Nutcracker Ballet

    Paramount Theatre

    A traditional holiday ballet is coming back to the Paramount Theatre this weekend. For 13 years, Stroia Ballet has performed the Nutcracker Ballet to thousands of children and adults of all ages. This classic Russian Ballet will be brought to life on the Paramount stage and help spread some holiday cheer. Tickets are just $19 and are going fast. Show runs Friday at 7:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m., and Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

    Winter Wonderland

    St. Cloud

    The 7th Annual Winter Nights and Lights Parade is back again this weekend. The day begins with a Winter Wonderland event held at Lake George, Family Fun and holiday treats inside the Capital One Cafe, the parade running through downtown St. Cloud starting at 5:00 p.m. and finally a free concert put on by the Fabulous Armadillos. The Winter Wonderland is $2 while the other events are free to attend. They run from 1:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

    Big Bad VooDoo Daddy

    Escher Auditorium

    Put a little swing into your holiday plans this season out at the College of Saint Benedict. The contemporary kings of swing, Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, are bringing their top-selling holiday show to St. Joseph this weekend. This toe tappin', finger snappin' show puts a big band experience to some of your favorite holiday hits. Tickets for the show run $32. The music starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.

    Tuba Christmas

    Pioneer Place

    Enjoy some of your favorite holiday classics in the form of tuba music. A Tuba Christmas is coming back to Pioneer Place this weekend. Traditional Christmas music was first performed by tuba back in 1980 and has become a yearly tradition around the world. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the music will start at 5:30 p.m. at Pioneer Place. The event is free and you're asked to come early as the space fills quickly.
