Most all of us have at least a couple of passwords we have to keep up with. We use these to protect our information, and we are encouraged to not use the same passwords for multiple accounts, even though a lot of people do.

We want passwords that are easy to remember, and they’re normally something that means something to us; birthdays, ours or our kids, other special dates, nicknames and our favorite sports teams also help make up our choices for our passwords.

If you are one of the people who uses your love for the Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves or Wild in your password, you should at least see this report from a company who studied leaked passwords in the United Kingdom.

Globaldots.com found that American sports teams were widely used in the passwords there that were broken. As a matter of fact, The Minnesota Vikings and Vikings themed passwords were 9th in passwords that were cracked by hackers in the UK.

The reach of the Twins also crossed the pond, as they were 10th in passwords that had a Major League Baseball origin that were compromised.

No real surprise that the most hacked American sports teams surrounded the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees, two of the strongest sports brands universally.

What was surprising was the NBA team that had the most passwords that were corrupted in the United Kingdom; The Oklahoma City Thunder. By the way, The Timberwolves didn’t make the Top 20 list of NBA teams fans used in the UK.

When it came to NHL teams whose UK fans used their theme in their password and had it broken by hackers, the Minnesota Wild came in 19th on that list.

Even though this happened in the United Kingdom, let this serve as a good reminder that sports teams passwords are popular targets for hackers who are trying to breakdown your protective wall. Either change your password entirely or at least use a blend of letters, numbers and characters that is harder to figure out.
