Despite the fact that when you look out your windows it looks more like January or February instead of early April, it is spring. There will be a time, hopefully not that far away, that we will see the last of Old Man Winter and welcome in the warmer air and beaming sunshine.

Minnesota in the spring is an awesome time of the year, and I’ve even heard die-hard winter lovers here saying they’re ready to move on from the threat of snow and the colder temperatures.

Now that we’re in April, we’re looking for flowers to begin to bloom and starting to prepare our lawns and gardens for the upcoming season.

We’re also starting to think about Easter. This year, the holy holiday falls on Sunday the 20th, and if you’ve been to any type of store recently, you have at worst seen Easter baskets on the shelves, but most likely you’ve seen a mom or dad, or maybe a child carrying out of the store this year's Easter prize.

The basket will likely house some tasty treats and maybe a gift or two, but it also serves the purpose of holding the recovered eggs that are found during Easter Egg Hunts.

If you’re looking for a place to take your child or grandchild this year, put this date on your calendar, Saturday April 12th. The Clearwater Fire and Rescue Department will hold an egg hunt for kids up to eleven years old.

This egg hunt will be held at the Clearwater Sportsman Park on Highway 75 in Clearwater. Registration will be held from 9:30 until 10 and the search for eggs will start shortly thereafter.

The Clearwater Fire and Rescue Department will use this fun filled event as an opportunity to collect funds in their “Fill the Boot” campaign.

This Easter Egg Hunt is sponsored by the Clearwater Fire and Rescue Relief Association.
