Drivers On Busy St. Cloud Road Are Being Warned

It appears that the St. Cloud Police Department is trying to get our attention, and I’d say for some of us they did. For others, well, maybe this will help.

If you travel Clearwater Road in St. Cloud, going into or away from St. Cloud proper, this is what you saw yesterday afternoon.  

I know this because this is what I saw on my way home on Thursday. The digital speed limit sign flashes how fast you are going as you approach it. What you should be seeing, is this is a statement from St. Cloud Police to slow down. 

What I’ve seen on this road the last few weeks is an increased presence of Law Enforcement in this area. I first noticed this a few weeks ago on my way to work when I saw a car that had been pulled over in this area. 

What stood out about this is that I’m on the road between 4 and 4:30 each morning, so I took that as a “warning shot” to other drivers to slow down.  

Then I’ve seen another 2 or 3 vehicles along this route sitting on the side of the road in front of an officer who had pulled them over at various times of day.  

So, yesterday afternoon, I pulled over and really thought about this area a little more.  

For me, it’s just one of the roads I use to get to and from work. But when I looked closer, it’s a road that a good number of people live on.  

The digital speed limit sign was in front of Cornerstone Square Apartments. 

This area also features several churches (Life Church, Holy Cross Lutheran and Grace United Methodist Church) and several businesses. So, there will be many people who only use this road occasionally that will be slowing down to make a turn.  

You also see signs stating that bikes use the area too. I’ve already seen people out on their bikes because the weather has been warmer than normal.  

Plus, there are signs along the way letting us know that people catch a Metro Bus along this route as well, so the slower we’re going, the better.  

The digital speed limit sign can serve as a reminder that we should go ahead and set the habit of traveling at a slow speed to be as safe as possible.  

I would venture a guess that there are probably other roads around the area, possibly even in other towns and counties, where law enforcement officials are trying to get the attention of drivers in that area too. 

Maybe, just maybe, we’ll pay more attention before you get a ticket, or worse and there’s an accident.
