Heads Up! Changes In Traffic Pattern to Busy St. Cloud Traffic Circle
If your drive to and from work hasn’t been affected by road construction this summer, consider yourself lucky. We understand that crews are limited to working during the warmer weather months, and winters are brutal on the roadways around the area, so the push to get as much done as possible between spring and October is key.
Some roads were shut down for a short period of time while others have been longer. One of the roads that was shut down that affected me and seemed to affect A LOT of other people was the University bridge near St. Cloud State.
This shut down caused me to have to take a different way to work for about a month, and I found I actually liked the other way better. It was longer, but I enjoyed the drive more.
When the bridge opened back, I noticed one thing right off the bat, when you come out of the traffic circle approaching the bridge, the outside or right lane, is a lot shorter than it used to be. Luckily for me, it was 4am when I came through there, and there was no other traffic on the road.
Previously, you could come out of the traffic circle and go two wide toward the bridge for a longer stretch than you can now.
Another change, the bicycle lane seems wider now. And the Department of Transportation is trying to let you know by posting some new signs to pay attention to.
Painting crews were putting the finishing touches on the new paint on the road and in the lanes yesterday afternoon.
All of this is just in time for St. Cloud State’s move in day next week, don’t you love it when a plan comes together. If you haven’t been through the area yet, hopefully this is a heads up for you, so you’ll be ready for what you’ll be seeing when you do.
