Lake in Minnesota Makes Top 10 List for Best Swimming Lakes
When people who aren’t from Minnesota think about our state, they think nothing but cold weather and lakes, and they’re not far off of course, because we have both here.
Being a relatively new Minnesotan, I really enjoy seeing all the lakes that are all around us. We have a popular lake that my wife and I used to spend a lot of time on years ago back in North Carolina, so we enjoy boating and being around the water.
USA Today has released a Top 10 list of the best lakes to swim in around the country, and Minnesota jointly has the 5th best lake.
Lake Superior, which is shared by Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan was listed as the fifth best lake for swimming.
The article says that the best areas for swimming include Agate Beach, Wild Goose Beach and Wisconsin Point. These spots tend to be a good place to seek relief from the summer heat as they and others on Lake Superior tend to be on the colder side.
Of course, the massive size of Lake Superior means there are a lot more places to cool off and splash around on the sprawling body of water. The article says the lake totals 31, 700 miles of lake to enjoy.
Here is the order of the Top 10 List from USA Today:
10- Lake Charlevoix in Michigan
9- Grand Lake in Colorado
8- Lake Chelan in Washington
7- Deep Creek Lake in Maryland
6- Lake Michigan in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana
5- Lake Superior
4- Norris Lake in Tennessee
