Small Business Help? Minnesota Has A Lot To Offer
Many people are like my wife Kim and I; we’ve talked several times about starting our own business at some point. And to be honest, it’s a scary thought when you’re putting yourself out there, not to mention the monetary side of things.
If you’re one of the folks who has often thought about starting your own business, but you’re not sure how to get started there’s help for you here in Minnesota.
The U.S. Small Business Administration has three offices around the state to offer assistance, guidance and support in your effort of being a business owner.
There’s an office in Minneapolis on 2nd Ave. South. The Central Minnesota Small Business Development Center is in St. Cloud on the Campus of St. Cloud State University. Then in Little Falls, you’ll find the Women’s Business Alliance Central Office.
There are 9 Small Business Development Centers around the state as well that offer guidance for those who are willing to take the step out to start their own business.
At each of these locations, you'll find the answers to the questions you have. The folks who work in these areas have experience and a passion for seeing local business not only grow but be successful.
You can find events that help with the challenges business owners face, and potentially develop friendships with other small business owners that could help in the networking of who you are and what you’re doing.
One thing I’ve noticed over the years, no one cheers for small businesses like other small business owners. In fact, my wife and I were in the SOS Treasure Chest location in Sauk Rapids over the weekend and one thing that stood out to me was that there were business cards for other area businesses on display there near the entrance.
I’m not saying that starting a business will be less scary, but with the trained support around the state of Minnesota, at least there's someone there to offer guidance to help with the decisions that you will be making.
