Whitney Senior Center Will Feature Movie About Robin Williams
As we get older, for those that are lucky enough to still have a parent or parents living, we must face the challenges of them changing before our very eyes.

Before moving to Minnesota, I spent a year living with my mom, who is now 93. She has several health issues including dementia. It’s a struggle for the parents, as they know things are changing, but it’s also very difficult for us as the family as well.
The Whitney Senior Center in St. Cloud is offering folks a chance to get an inside look at the debilitating disease; dementia.
The look will come in the form of the movie “Robin’s Wish”, which tracks the last years of comedy legend Robin Williams. Documented reports have shared some insight into the struggles that Robin faced within his own mind.
This event is being sponsored by Dementia Friends of the St. Cloud Metro Area. The date for the film is Tuesday March 18th. There will be refreshments at 5:30, prior to the movie being shown and there will be resources available for residents of the area who are experiencing these challenges with their own family members. The movie starts at 6.
As we have learned with my mom, there are so many things that we didn’t know. The routine that she had, even two years ago, is different than what she does today.
Understanding what to expect helps care givers and family members as they walk this path the best they can so they can feel like they’re best prepared to provide care for and offer explanations to the one they love who doesn’t see things quite the way they used to.
This event is free and open to the public. The Whitney Senior Center is on Northway Drive in St. Cloud.
